Kent wins pre-FEED contract for UK power-to-liquid SAF plant

February 24, 2026 |

In the UK, Fuel Cells Works reported that Kent, a global integrated energy services partner, collaborated with Equilibrion during the successful bid for funding from the UK Department for Transport’s Advanced Fuels Fund (AFF). With funding now secured for the Equilibrion and its partners, Kent is delivering the Pre-Front-End Engineering Design (Pre-FEED) for Eq.flight, an advanced power-to-liquids (PtL) SAF demonstration plant.

As part of the collaborative Pre-FEED phase, Kent is developing the engineering design for the demonstration system. Eq.flight brings together solid oxide electrolysis, reverse water-gas shift, and Fischer–Tropsch synthesis technologies to produce drop-in SAF with potential for more than a 90% reduction in lifecycle emissions compared to conventional jet fuel, according to the report.

The integrated system is designed for continuous operation without reliance on backup generation or large-scale storage, offering a pathway to efficient and secure domestic SAF production, it added.
