Jordan, Chinese firm study green hydrogen project
In Jordan, Jordan News Agency reported that Jordan Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Saleh Kharabsheh signed a memorandum of understanding with Yin Mingshan, Chairman of China’s Getting International Energy Holdings, to conduct technical studies for a green hydrogen and derivatives project in Jordan using renewable energy and desalinated water in Aqaba.
Kharabsheh said the memorandum follows King Abdullah II’s visit to China and is part of efforts to expand economic and investment cooperation between the two countries, particularly in green hydrogen.
He noted that the royal visit included the signing of a comprehensive strategic memorandum of understanding with China’s National Energy Administration and discussions on cooperation in several areas, including green hydrogen projects involving Chinese companies, according to the report.
Kharabsheh said Jordan is working with several Chinese companies in the sector as part of its National Green Fuels Strategy. He added that the studies under the memorandum will assess the project’s technical and economic feasibility before a decision is made on its development and implementation, the report added.
