Indonesia targets 2 million hectares for E20
In Indonesia, ChiniMandi reports the government plans to prepare 2 million hectares of sugarcane plantations within two years to provide domestic feedstock for its planned E20 gasoline program, under which gasoline would contain 20% ethanol. President Prabowo Subianto directed Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman to organize the land, while state investment agency Danantara is responsible for developing ethanol-processing infrastructure. The government expects plantations across Kalimantan, Sumatra, Java and Papua to contribute. Officials say the ethanol will use domestically grown sugarcane, with the E20 target intended as a step toward Indonesia’s longer-term E50 ambition.
