Indonesia launches consortium to develop compressed biomethane

In Indonesia, Antara news agency reports the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) together with Sub Holding PTPN III (Persero), PTPN IV PalmCo developed Bio-Compressed Biomethane Gas based on palm waste as an alternative to LPG to strengthen energy security and renewable energy mix.

The joint project of BRIN is focused on the treatment of oil mill oil mill effluent or POME) and empty bunch biomass into high-grade biomethanas. The gas is then purified until it has specifications such as natural gas.
