Indian bamboo biorefinery to reach commercial production in March
In India, the Deccan Herald newspaper reports the long awaited bamboo-based biorefinery in Assam is set to reach commercial production in March after pilot commissioning achieved anyhdrous ethanol production in September 2025. The joint venture between Chempolis and Fortum from Finland and Numaligarh Refinery Limited will produce 50,000 metric tons of ethanol annually from 500,000 tons of bamboo. In addition to ethanol, the facility will produce 19,000 tons of furfural per annum, 11,000 tons of acrtic acid as well as 25MW of electricity.
