IBGE expects the 2026 harvest in Brazil to grow by 2%
In Brazil, GloboRural reported that the Brazilian harvest of grains, legumes, and oilseeds is expected to reach 353 million tons in 2026, a 2% increase compared to 2025.
This was reported by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) when releasing the July Systematic Survey of Agricultural Production (LSPA).
According to the institute, compared to the LSPA forecast for June 2026, the forecast in the July LSPA is 1.6% higher, an increase of 5.6 million tons, according to the report.
The report added that rice, corn, and soybeans represent 92.9% of the estimated national grain production and account for 87.4% of the area to be harvested in this year’s crop.
For soybeans, the production estimate is 174.9 million tons. If confirmed, this will be a new record. The figure is 64,300 tons higher than the June estimate and 5.3% higher than the 2025 season.
Meanwhile, corn production is estimated at 141.8 million tons for the 2026 harvest, which would also be a new record if confirmed. Compared to the previous year, this represents an increase of 59,400 tons.
