Hydrogen Energy Association calls for progress on UK hydrogen rounds
In Bulgaria, Renewables Now reported that UK lobby group the Hydrogen Energy Association has called on the government to prevent more delays to its Hydrogen Allocation Rounds and Hydrogen Strategy refresh.
The organization has sent a letter to the Secretaries of State and the Chancellor, pushing for the immediate publication of HAR 2 project outcomes, the HAR 3 market engagement exercise and rapid advancement of the Hydrogen Strategy refresh. The UK government shortlisted 27 electrolytic hydrogen projects under HAR2 in April 2025, according to the report.
“Every day of delay to HAR 2, HAR 3 and the Hydrogen Strategy refresh chips away at investor confidence, pushes projects, capital and skilled jobs elsewhere and risks a negative spiral of eroding business confidence,” said Emma Guthrie, CEO of the Hydrogen Energy Association.
According to a survey in a recent report by the association, under an improved policy environment, the sector could create around 17,000 jobs by 2030.
