Hungary’s first-ever $8.25M biomethane plant comes online
In Hungary, Portfolio reports Mol’s first biomethane plant was handed over in Szarvas. After the more than 2.7 billion HUF development, the biomethane produced in the plant will be fed into the national natural gas network, replacing more than 7 million cubic meters of natural gas in the gas network with renewable energy sources every year.
They emphasize that biomethane is not only suitable for replacing natural gas, but also means a product with a higher value added through the associated green certificate (ISCC). According to Mol, the 7 million cubic meters of gas corresponds to the annual gas demand of about 8500 average households, and biomethane can be used directly in the form of bioCNG or bioLNG in public transport and freight transport, so renewable energy produced from organic waste can also become an important fuel for more sustainable transport.
