Honduras may team with Brazilian investors on soy biodiesel

October 19, 2026 |

In Honduras, possibility of developing commercial soy production and establishing a biodiesel plant in Honduras began to be discussed with Brazilian investors, in an initiative that seeks to diversify agricultural activity, reduce dependence on imports and open new business opportunities for domestic producers.

One of the main attractions of the proposal is the possibility of replacing part of the imports of soy derivatives through the strengthening of domestic production.

According to the figures shared during the meetings, Honduras imports more than 400,000 metric tons of soybean flour, a product used mainly in animal feed and whose demand represents an opportunity for the development of new agribusiness. The talks involve the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (SAG), representatives of the productive sector and the Brazilian company Be8.
