Higher feedstock prices keep RIN prices from falling further
In Washington, Hydrocarbon Engineering reports Energy Information Administration data shows rising feedstock prices for biofuel have helped to stop the freefall of RIN prices that started to take place following the publication of Environmental Protection Agency’s lower-than-hoped-for RFS blending mandates last month. On Tuesday, biomass-based diesel D6 RINs closed at $1.54/gal and ethanol D4 RINs closed at $1.53/gal compared to $2/gal for most of 2021 and 2022. D6 RINs typically trade at a premium to D4s.
