Hexagon Agility bags $18.7 million RNG systems order for refuse fleet
In Norway Hexagon Agility, a part of Hexagon Composites, has clinched a substantial order worth $18.7 million to supply renewable natural gas fuel systems to a prominent North American refuse fleet with deliveries to begin in the third quarter of 2024. The move underscores a growing trend among heavy-duty vehicle fleets to adopt cleaner, sustainable energy solutions.
Eric Bippus of Hexagon Agility highlighted the dual benefits of RNG systems: they not only help fleets reduce their carbon footprint but also ensure operational efficiency without disrupting existing business workflows. This order reflects a significant shift towards RNG, which is derived from decomposing organic materials and offers a carbon-negative fuel option.
The increasing adoption of RNG is evident in recent statistics from The Transport Project, which reported that 79% of all on-road natural gas fuel used in 2023 was RNG, marking a 16% increase from the previous year and a 234% rise over six years.
