HECO gets PUC sign off to buy 10 million gallons of biodiesel
In Hawaii, the state’s Public Utilities Commission has given Hawaiian Electric Co the green light to buy 10 million gallons of biodiesel from Hawaii BioEnergy. The fuel will replace 5% of HECO’s fossil fuel demand for electricity generation to supply the islands. HECO aims to use 40% renewables by 2030.
