Hamburg starts building hydrogen connector for HH-WIN network

August 27, 2026 |

In Belgium, Hydrogen Europe reported that German utility Hamburger Energienetze has started construction of the H2-Connector on the former Moorburg power plant site, a key hub for the planned Hamburg Hydrogen Industry Network (HH-WIN).

The facility will connect locally produced hydrogen, including output from the Hamburg Green Hydrogen Hub (HGHH) electrolyzer, with the HH-WIN distribution network and Dutch gas grid operator Gasunie’s planned national hydrogen network, Hyperlink.

It will include a hydrogen injection facility and a pressure regulation station, while a compressor station will be added later, according to the report.
