Guatemala will begin selling regular gasoline with an ethanol blend on August 22

August 23, 2026 |

In Argentina, Infobae reported that Guatemala will begin selling regular gasoline with an E10 blend on August 22, a combination of 90% gasoline and 10% ethanol that the Government will first apply to the most used fuel in the country, with the expectation of lowering its price , expanding the use of biofuels and modifying a policy whose implementation had been pending for decades.

The new blend will only be distributed at pumps that currently dispense regular gasoline. Premium gasoline will remain unchanged for now, a decision that altered the government’s initial plan, which envisioned incorporating ethanol into both types of fuel.

The introduction of E10 also requires ensuring the supply of ethanol. The minister indicated that the arrival of two to three ships per month is planned to maintain the blend, according to the report.
