Giant King Grass pellets produced in Dominican Republic

In the Dominican Republic, VIASPACE reports they have produced Giant King Grass pellets, which were tested by SGS North America.  The pellets reportedly have a gross calorific value of 7724 BTU/dry lb.  The pelletization and testing of Giant King Grass was performed as part of a project to develop a 250,000 to 400,000 ton per year biomass pellet plant in the Dominican Republic.  The project is the result of a Memorandum of Understanding signed by VIASPACE and General Biofuels earlier this year, with an eye towards targeting coal-fired power plants in Europe that are committed to reducing their carbon dioxide emissions by replacing up to 20% of coal with biomass.
