FrieslandCampina to use bioCNG for milk transport in the Netherlands and Germany
In the Netherlands, FrieslandCampina has formed an alliance with seven transport companies in the Netherlands and Germany to make milk transport more sustainable. Through this collaboration, the parties aim to reduce CO₂ emissions from transport activities in the coming years.
Under the alliance, FrieslandCampina and the transport companies have agreed to opt for trucks running on biomethane (bio-CNG) when vehicles are replaced. Around half of the transport fleet is expected to be converted to bio-CNG in the coming years. In this way, the parties are actively investing in more sustainable milk transport in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany.
Another key element of the collaboration is the further development of refuelling and charging infrastructure, enabling renewable fuels and low-emission vehicles to be used more widely across FrieslandCampina’s transport network.
