Ethanol production falls to lowest level in 3.5 years
In Washington, Platts reports that Energy Information Administration data shows ethanol production fell to its lowest level in 3.5 years last week to an average of 943,000 b/d, 60,000 b/d lower than the prior week, a drop of nearly 6%, and nearly 9% lower that during the same week last year. Platts estimates the crush margin for Chicago Argo ethanol at 7.01 cents/gal, lower than last week’s 7.69 cents/gal. EIA data also showed that ethanol stocks fell in four out of five regions last week to a total of 22.500 million barrels, down 738,000 barrels compared to the week prior.
