Enea invests $82.6 million euros in Polaniec power plant
In Poland CEEnergy News reported that State-owned Polish utility company, Enea, will invest $82.6 billion to construct a biomass warehouse and logistics infrastructure at the Polaniec Power Plant.
The Połaniec Power Plant is one of Poland’s largest thermal power stations, featuring a total installed capacity of 1,882 megawatts. Originally constructed as a coal-fired facility, it integrated biomass co-firing in 2004 before commissioning one of the world’s largest dedicated 205-megawatt biomass units in 2012. Today, the plant officially utilizes a mix of coal and renewable forestry and agricultural residues, according to the report.
The announced new facility will span more than 14,000 square meters, with the capacity to handle up to 2 million tons of biomass annually, it added.
