Dubai reviews 2025 clean energy progress and waste-to-energy expansion plans

In India, SolarQuarter reported that he Dubai Supreme Council of Energy reviewed the performance of programs and projects completed in 2025 under the approved framework supporting clean energy initiatives and optimized electricity and water consumption. 

Performance indicators were assessed to strengthen Dubai’s roadmap toward a sustainable economy and smart infrastructure, according to the report.

A key agenda item was the operational performance of the waste-to-energy center in Warsan. The facility has processed over 4.5 million tons of waste, with 62% diverted from landfill, aligning with Dubai’s goal of eliminating landfill sites by 2041. The council confirmed that the second phase of the plant’s expansion will be launched later this year to further enhance waste processing capacity and energy recovery.

The council is deploying advanced technologies to enhance waste treatment and reuse within a circular economy framework, while strengthening private sector participation in government-led sustainability initiatives, according to the report.
