Diesel Direct supporting Steamship Authority in renewable diesel pilot program
In Massachusetts, Diesel Direct is supporting the Steamship Authority in launching its landmark renewable diesel pilot program this summer aboard the M/V Island Home, which operates on the Woods Hole–Martha’s Vineyard route. This initiative marks the first East Coast deployment of R99 renewable diesel in marine operations by the Authority, setting a new precedent for sustainable ferry transportation in New England.
During the trial period from June 1 to September 1, 2025, Diesel Direct will provide R99 renewable diesel to power the ferry. Based on the feedstock used, the program is expected to achieve a minimum 50% reduction in lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions—and potentially up to 78%—when compared to conventional ultra-low-sulfur diesel.
