Congressmen request EPA expand RFS eligibility to maritime transportation
Some qualified renewable fuels used in vessels serving domestic routes cannot currently generate RFS credits because of EPA’s definition of ocean-going vessels. The signers, which also include Reps. Randy Feenstra (R-Iowa), Mike Flood (R-Nebraska), Zach Nunn (R-Iowa), Michelle Fischbach (R-Minnesota), Derek Schmidt (R-Kansas), and Mark Alford (R-Missouri), urge EPA to clarify that U.S. inland and coastal vessels can help generate credits from the renewable fuels they use and revise the RFS definition so domestic operations are not excluded solely because of engine type.
