Chinese shipyard delivers third methanol container ship to CMA CGM

June 23, 2026 |

In China, China Water Transport Network reports Dalian Shipbuilding’s Tianjin yard delivered the CMA CGM Sihano, the third 15,000-TEU methanol dual-fuel container ship it has built for French carrier CMA CGM, 13 days ahead of schedule.

The 366-meter vessel can switch between methanol and conventional fuel and meets the International Maritime Organization’s Tier III emissions standard.

The yard combined the ship’s methanol and conventional-fuel testing into a single sea trial for the first time. Engineers completed generator, power-loss and fixed water-cannon tests before departure, allowing the full trial program to finish three days early.

The Tianjin yard has now delivered all three methanol dual-fuel container ships it has built for CMA CGM, while the consolidated trial process is expected to support faster, more standardized construction of similar vessels.
