Chinese giant to launch $280 million waste-to-energy plant in Almaty
In Kazakhstan, KZ Kursiv reported that a waste incineration project by Junxin Environmental Protection is moving forward in Almaty, with construction planned in the city’s Alatau district.
The facility is designed to process up to 2,000 tons of waste per day and generate as much as 60 megawatts of electricity, which will be supplied to the city’s power grid, according to the report.
Total investment in the project is estimated at $280 million. The plant will be equipped with emission treatment systems that meet international environmental standards, according to project details. It is expected to create about 700 jobs during construction and 120 permanent positions once operational.
