China soybean purchases up but still below pre-trade war levels, USDA data shows
In Iowa, KWQC reported that new data from the U.S. Department of Agriculture shows China’s purchases of U.S. soybeans have increased under last year’s trade agreement, but remain below pre-trade war levels, according to Iowa farmers.
The report noted that USDA data shows China accounted for less than 30% of U.S. soybean exports through March — about half of its share in previous years.
Economists said it will likely take until the end of the current marketing year to determine whether China meets its purchase commitments under the agreement, the report added.
