Canola an opportunity for Great Plains farmers
In Colorado, research from the ARS Central Great Plains Research Station shows that spring canola could be an opportunity for farmers across the Great Plains to grow a crop rather than leaving it fallow after wheat in the semi-arid regions. Simulations show that canola production could reach 900 pounds per acre, bringing in $67 to $189 per acre when water levels were right.
