California refiners may even be paid to blend biodiesel thanks to policy double whammy

In California, Bloomberg reports that in California refiners are getting biodiesel practically for free thanks to the federal $1/gal blending credit mixed with the Low Carbon Fuel Standard, or in some cases may even be making a profit. In the Midwest, refiners are paying just 64.5 cents per gallon with the credit is taken into account. The state and federal policies separately and together mean that biodiesel is getting a big boost despite oil prices being so low.
