Brazil’s grain production continues to expand, FAS says
In Brazil, World Grain reported that corn production is seen expanding in Brazil for marketing year 2026-27 as the country’s grain and feed sectors continue to shift toward more profitable crops supported by strong ethanol demand and better margins relative to rice and wheat, according to a report from the Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) of the US Department of Agriculture.
The report noted that Brazil is forecast to produce a total of 136 million tons of corn for 2026-27, up 1.5% from an estimate of 134 million tons in 2025-26, the FAS said in its annual report. Planted area will grow slightly year on year from 22.8 million hectares to 23 million hectares, the report added.
Corn use for ethanol is rising each year as new ethanol and mixed-use plants open, the FAS noted. Exports are forecast at 42 million tons for 2026-27, unchanged from 2025-26, the report added.
