Brazilian ethanol imports slump in June while NNE prices soar to record high
In Brazil, Platts reports that June ethanol imports fell to their lowest levels since November at 50.3 million liters, almost all of it into the North-Northeast region from the US. Total imports through June stood at 1.22 billion liters, 5% lower than last year. The NNE region saw record ethanol prices last week due to lower imports from the US and high freight rates for ethanol supplied from the Center-South region that is currently crushing sugarcane.
