Brazilian ethanol demand boom leads mills to back away from sugar
In Brazil, increased demand for ethanol has mills focused more on ethanol production rather than sugar. Ethanol sales during the second half of July were 31% higher than during the first half of the month. Concerns about frosts damaging cane crops are also impacting production estimates. Mills are directing 55% of cane towards ethanol, up from 49.4% last year.
