Brazil shift to B16 would mean 7% demand increase for soy oil
StoneX added, however, that the scenario for increasing the biodiesel mixture is uncertain, depending on a government decision. An increase in the mix could boost the soybean industry, since soybean oil is by far the main raw material for biodiesel production in Brazil. The Abiove sector association estimated on Thursday that exports of the Brazilian grain could fall in 2027, amid the growth of domestic processing, considering a larger mix.
Data from the ANP cited by StoneX indicate that the commodity accounted for about 85% of biofuel production, registering an increase of 8.2% compared to 2025. Without progress in the mix, the growth in biodiesel sales in Brazil would be 1.2% in 2027, to 10.43 billion liters, basically following the consumption of the fuel market. StoneX also estimated Brazilian demand for diesel B, with biodiesel mixture, at 71.4 billion liters in 2027, an annual increase of 1.2%.
