Brazil freezes biodiesel blending at 14% amid food security concerns
In Brazil, Reuters reports the energy council won’t raise biodiesel blending to 15% in March as expected but will keep it at the current 14%, which will cut expected blending in 2025 by 600,000 metric tons. Higher food prices were the reason for freezing the blending level, which can be reviewed and increased at any time, but there is no expectation of what that could be. Most of Brazil’s biodiesel is produced from soybean oil.
