Brazil boosts ethanol blend to 32% for six months

July 14, 2026 |

In Brazil, Valor Economico reports the National Energy Policy Council (CNPE) approved on Tuesday a resolution that temporarily raises to 32% (E32) from 30% the mandatory percentage of the mixture of anhydrous ethanol added to gasoline marketed throughout the country. According to the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME), the measure will have 180 days, with the possibility of extension, once, for the same period.

The CNPE had scheduled a meeting for Tuesday morning after a series of postponements. The measure is meant to help the country to stop importing 900 million liters of gasoline per year. The decision, the government said, considers volatility in the global oil and fuel market.
