Biofuels Digest Index falls to 63.96 as ethanol equities tank

The Biofuels Digest Index, an index of publicly traded biofuels stocks, fell 1.65 percent to 63.96 as ethanol equities tanked as investors awaited a key EPA ruling on biofuels mandates. For the day, Pacific Ethanol (PEIX) plunged 15.92 percent to $2.80, while while Green Plains Renewable Energy (GPRE) dropped 4.95 percent to $15.18. Among other equities, Renewable Energy Group (REGI) rebounded 4.35 percent to $13.92. Overall, declines led advances 5 to 3 for the day.
