BioCirc sells 650,000 tons of carbon removals to Microsoft through 5 BECCS sites

May 20, 2026 |

In Denmark, BioCirc has entered into an agreement with Microsoft to deliver 650,000 Carbon Removal Units (CRUs) over the next 7 years, equivalent to 650,000 metric tons of permanent CO displacement. This will be done through carbon capture and storage (BECCS) at 5 of BioCirc’s 8 biogas plants. The agreement supports Microsoft’s ambition to become CO negative by 2030 and contributes to increasing the supply of permanent and robust solutions for CO displacement in the circular bioeconomy.
