Bangchak Group expands used cooking oil management network for SAF production
In Thailand, Bangchak Group said it has expanded its collaboration with organizations and schools nationwide on the management of used cooking oil to produce sustainable aviation fuel. Through the Fry to Fly and No Refry initiatives, the firm is systematically building a collection network that promotes public health awareness alongside environmental protection, supports the circular economy, and contributes to Thailand’s target of achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
On 20 August, BSGF Company Limited (BSGF) and Bangkok Fuel Pipeline and Logistics Company Limited (BFPL), Bangchak Group affiliates, signed a memorandum of understanding on used cooking oil management with the Sammacheep Foundation. The collaboration aims to reduce environmental impacts and promote consumer health by encouraging business operators and network partners to manage used cooking oil properly and efficiently through the No Refry and Fry to Fly initiatives and sell the collected oil to BSGF for SAF production, the firm added.
Since its launch in late 2024, the “Fry to Fly Station” network has expanded to more than 50 educational institutions across 12 provinces. The network has collected more than 10 tons of used cooking oil, which has already been channeled into SAF production, and plans to continue expanding its partnerships nationwide.
