Axens, Green Sky team up to build SAF production facility in Egypt
In Bulgaria, Renewables Now reported that French energy solutions provider Axens has joined forces with Qatar-based sustainable aviation fuel platform Green Sky Capital to set up a SAF production facility in Egypt, aiming to commence operations by end-2027.
The proposed facility will use lipid-based feedstocks such as used cooking oil to produce 200,000 tons of SAF per year, deploying Axens’ Vegan HEFA technology. The French firm will also provide its integrated catalyst and adsorbent solutions, along with operational support and training services.
Separately, Axens and Green Sky have signed a broader Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) devoted to the further enhancement and optimisation of SAF production. They expect the initiative to materially increase SAF output per ton of feedstock processed, giving Green Sky an advantage over conventional SAF producers.
