In Australia, Reuters reports the government is expediting a public consultation process that it plans to launch in the next few months that could lead to a biofuel blending mandate. The country’s largest farm lobbies have recently joined together to push the government to make the move in the face of rising fuel prices in an unstable global market. Last year, the government announced $783.86 million to fund biofuel blending infrastucture. The sugar industry in particular has been pushing for ethanol blending for over a decade.
