Argentine farmers begin rapid wheat planting, exchange says
In Argentina, Reuters reported that Argentine farmers have begun planting wheat for the 2026/27 cycle in recent days, making rapid progress in the initial planting tasks thanks to adequate soil moisture levels, the Buenos Aires Grain Exchange (BdeC) said.
Argentina is a key global exporter of the grain, whose harvest the Exchange estimated at 21.3 million tons, 23.4% less than what was collected in the previous season.
In the case of the 2025/26 soybean crop, the Exchange said that in the last week the harvesting of the oilseed also progressed rapidly, which is 84.6% complete with a production estimated at 50.1 million tons.
Regarding the 2025/26 corn crop, harvesting is progressing more slowly as farmers prioritize soybean harvesting. According to the report, 34.7% of the corn has been harvested, with an estimated record yield of 64 million tons.
