ANP shuts down Vibra Energia’s Rio distribution center of ethanol explosion

In Brazil, ANP determined the interdiction of the storage tanks and other equipment of the operational unit of the fuel distributor Vibra Energia located in the municipality of Volta Redonda, Rio de Janeiro, where there was explosion in ethanol storage tank. The company is prevented from moving dangerous products and will only be able to resume activities after it has been authorized by the Agency.

The ANP also sent a team to the scene of the incident.

The ban carried out by the ANP is based on Law No. 9.847/1999, and aims to safeguard the safety of people and property, as well as to avoid environmental damage, due to the emergency circumstances arising from the explosions and leaks found on the spot, under investigation by the competent bodies (Police and Fire Department).
