Analysts foresee Malaysia’s palm oil production to recover this year
In Ukraine, UkrAgroConsult reported that analysts have foreseen Malaysia’s palm oil production to recover in 2025 as climatic conditions remain favorable.
BMI Country Risk and Industry Research said in a note that following an expected decline of 1.6% year-on-year in the 2024/25 season, it expects a partial recovery in Malaysian output in 2025/26, forecasting a 0.5% year-on-year increase, with total output seen at 19.5 million tons.
The report added that BMI also expects the country’s domestic consumption to decline by 2% from 3.9 million tons in 2024/25 to 3.8 million tons in 2025/26, as industrial demand eases amid slow progress toward biofuel targets and tighter restrictions on the used cooking oil trade.
