Amon-Navigator venture secures $121.8 million for ammonia carriers

August 6, 2026 |

In Norway, Amon Maritime and Navigator Gas secured up to $121.8 million through their joint venture to finance two ammonia-fueled liquified ammonia carriers scheduled for delivery in May and September 2028. The six-year loan will cover as much as 70% of the vessels’ cost.

The project combines Amon Maritime’s work developing ammonia powered ships, fuel systems and bunkering infrastructure with Navigator Gas’ experience operating the world’s largest fleet of handysize liquefied-gas carriers. Navigator’s vessels already transport ammonia, LPG and petrochemical gases, giving the venture an established market for the new ships.
