Allied Biofuels and Uzbekistan Airports sign MOU exploring SAF collaboration
In the UK, SAF Investor reported that Australian firm Allied Biofuels signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Uzbekistan Airports to collaborate on sustainable aviation fuel and eSAF production in the country.
The agreement supports Allied Biofuels SAF, eSAF and renewable diesel facility. At full capacity the project is expected to annually produce 160,000 tons of SAF, 257,000 tons of eSAF and 5,040 tons of renewable diesel. Commercial production is expected to begin in 2030, according to the report.
The project is estimated to require $6.1bn in capital investment, the report added.
Currently the project has access to 4.45 gigawatts of renewable power, 2.4 gigawatts of electrolyzers for green hydrogen production, and 1,600 megawatt-hours of battery energy storage. Plug Power has been identified as the preferred electrolyzer technology provider.
