Alabama town home to energy beet ethanol trial
In Alabama, trial ethanol production from energy beets is already underway in the town of Perdido where project promoters are trying to get farmers to plant beet as a winter crop ahead of peanuts and corn. They say that farmers can produce 35 tons per acre, earning them an additional $1200 per acre annually. It wasn’t clear how much ethanol production capacity the demo plant has.
