Brazilian corn ethanol production to double by 2018
In Brazil, the country is looking to double its ethanol production from corn by 2018 in an effort to boost supplies during the sugarcane inter-crop season. At the moment, three sugarcane mills in Mato Grasso also produce ethanol from corn following the example of a first mill who introduced the idea successfully in 2011. Two new plants are under construction that will double the state’s production to 300 million liters annually, including Iowa-based Summit’s facility that should be online this year.
