Russian corn exports to China more than doubled in the current season
In Ukraine, APK Inform reported that from September 2025 to mid-April this year, Russian exporters shipped about 330,000 tons of corn to China, compared with 153,000 tons in the same period last year, according to figures from the federal center Agroexport under the Russian Ministry of Agriculture.
As experts explained, this growth is driven by three key factors: a partial recovery in China’s demand for imported corn, the country’s efforts to diversify its import structure, and a larger corn export quota in Russia in 2026.
At the same time, it is noted that overall corn purchases by China in the current season are not comparable with the 2023/24 season, when, according to China’s General Administration of Customs, the country imported about 24.7 million tons of grain. In 2024/25 MY, China reduced imports to 2.1 million tons. Nevertheless, in 2025/26 MY, according to USDA forecasts, China may import up to 8 million tons, driven by steadily growing domestic demand, according to the report.
