Fratelli Cosulich launches second methanol-ready bunker vessel at Chinese yard
In Italy, Fratelli Cosulich reports that Lucia Cosulich, the second of four sister vessels in a methanol-ready IMO II series, was launched May 2 at Taizhou Maple Leaf Shipyard in China, two months after the first vessel in the series entered the water.
IMO II tankers are designed to carry a broad range of liquid chemicals and vegetable oils, with cargo systems built to higher containment and safety standards than general-purpose tankers. The classification makes the vessels well-suited for alternative fuel cargoes, including methanol, which requires compatible tank coatings and handling systems.
Lucia Cosulich features phenolic epoxy cargo tank coating and systems engineered for future fuel integration. The four-vessel series is part of Fratelli Cosulich’s Marine Energy Unit strategy to build a bunkering fleet capable of handling both conventional and alternative fuels.
