Guangxi ships first full cargo of liquid ammonia to South Asia
In China, China News Service reports that the vessel Sea Team departed Qinzhou Port’s Yihai terminal carrying 23,305.5 metric tons of liquid ammonia bound for India, marking Guangxi’s first full-ship liquid ammonia export to South Asia.
The cargo was produced by Guangxi Hengyi New Materials Co., which operates a synthetic ammonia plant at the Qinzhou Port free trade zone. The company is expanding capacity from 200,000 to 400,000 metric tons per year, with the expansion expected to complete by year-end.
Maritime authorities conducted advance inspections covering vessel certification, crew qualifications, liquid cargo system integrity, and pollution emergency procedures before the voyage. The shipper benefited from streamlined customs procedures under the China (Guangxi) Pilot Free Trade Zone, including on-site inspection combined with direct terminal loading, reducing logistics costs.
The shipment is the first dangerous-chemicals export to move through Qinzhou Port’s Yihai terminal to South Asia, a route that officials describe as part of a broader effort to develop green chemical industry capacity oriented toward ASEAN markets and establish a maritime hazardous-cargo corridor along the Belt and Road.
