EBRD considers $105 million loan for Morocco SAF project
In Morocco, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development is considering a loan of up to $105 million to Green Sky Capital for a planned sustainable aviation fuel facility at Nador West Med Port in northeastern Morocco. The project has an estimated total cost of $239 million and is designed to produce 200,000 metric tons of SAF annually using hydroprocessed esters and fatty acids (HEFA) technology and waste-based oils, fats and greases. The financing could include $20 million from the Green Climate Fund, alongside an EU-backed risk guarantee. The plant would also produce renewable diesel, bionaphtha and biopropane. The financing remains under consideration.
