Eneos opens green hydrogen demonstration facility in Brisbane
In Australia, Australian Manufacturer reported that Japanese energy company Eneos has officially opened a $200 million green hydrogen demonstration facility at Bulwer Island in Brisbane, with the project expected to support more than 100 specialist jobs in Queensland over its lifetime.
According to the Queensland Government, the facility follows a 2024 trade mission to Japan by the local government and brings together Japanese technology and Queensland expertise to test the production and transportation of green hydrogen for international markets.
The facility uses a liquid carrier to store and transport hydrogen at normal temperature and pressure, with a portion of the production intended for Japan, according to the report.
The Queensland Government said the project would create opportunities for local businesses and workers, while supporting efforts to establish Queensland as a destination for international investment in emerging energy technologies.
