In Indonesia, Indonesia Business Post reported that Indonesia is exploring partnerships with US companies to develop clean hydrogen and utilize surplus production as part of efforts to expand its clean energy ecosystem.

Indonesia’s Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry (ESDM) has identified potential cooperation with several US companies to develop hydrogen energy, following Vice Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Yuliot Tanjung’s participation in the G20 Energy Abundance Ministerial Meeting in Houston, Texas, on September 14–16, 2026.

“There will also be cooperation with several companies from the US,” Yuliot said at the ESDM Ministry on October 2, 2026. Yuliot said hydrogen is a clean energy source that can be produced from various feedstocks, including water, biomass and natural gas.

He added that Indonesia has significant hydrogen resources that have yet to be fully utilized, while the US is also developing hydrogen as an energy source, according to the report.

The government has identified 93 initiatives to develop Indonesia’s hydrogen ecosystem, with the projects representing around $1.81 billion in planned investment, according to ESDM data.
